PWS MK112 small shadow
The debate on which is better AR-15 or AK-47 systematically and for a long time has no end. Supporters of Eugene Stoner project
aren't giving up to Michail Kalashnikov. There are many supporters of each of these projects, but we must state that AR-15 is a rifle which extremely evolved and from the project to this day became the most modern production. However, AK-47 was for years over time production, which stopped in development decades ago.

Exactly these above facts were used by the company Primary Weapons System i.e. PWS. The system solution AK-47 i.e. long stroke piston has been redesigned and adapted to rifles of PWS Company. With such simple treatment PWS rifles become a modern copy of the Kalashnikov project. Everything seems to be a perfect solution, but the price of their idea exceeds prices of the leading piston rifles of short stroke piston type, so it is hard to determine whether the project of PWS Company will be successful.

A few years ago, PWS has introduced gas solution originally designed by Eugene Stoner in rifles of AR15 type, under interesting name of Modern Musket, therefore the company is not limited only to their solution relating to AK-47. But back to the topic and MK 112 model. It is a model with barrel length of 12.75", i.e. length rarely seen among the competition. Piston system is long stroke piston version referring to AK-47 solution. What is the difference between piston system of short stroke and long stroke type? Short stroke piston works on the principle of energy exchange by inelastic collision of two bodies, in this case gas piston and locking latch. While long stroke piston of PWS Company works on the principle of movement of the entire gas piston permanently attached to the locking latch. PWS solution consists of divided piston set in order to use the standard charging handle. This is not a perfect solution, but probably the only possible in case of this system. However, this causes more heating of the upper part of handle, because the piston set is in a tube, by which heating quite quickly passes the heat on sear. Heat is quite strongly felt when shooting the series, and with more ammunition, which is over 200 items.

A big plus is adjusted piston valve, which provides possibility of fitting the ammunition and tasks of the operator to expected effect. Therefore, both the civil and combat operator will find perfect setting for himself. In the set with rifle we get a special key to adjust, but without a problem it is possible to switch gas valve with ammunition. Compensator fitted on the barrel is a famous PWS FSC556 model, i.e. one of the best compensators, which on its rifles the FNH USA Company also assembles in SCAR series.

Another distinctive thing is buffer-tube, which in this case no longer is a simple tube, but designed element. As one of few companies, PWS assembles on their rifles with long reaching rail up to compensator, which probably will please many sports shooters. In addition, BCM Charging Handle is an instant hit, because usually it is an item to purchase, and not standard. PWS Company boasts of reduced weight of their weapon, but these are not very perceptible values during the training. Reduced weight in large part is caused by the construction of thinner profile, which is easily noticeable comparing the lower-receiver PWS with competition.

Summing up, the PWS company's rifles in MK1 series it is possible to rank among the lead of projects of AR-15 type, and at the same time, as the only producer we can rank it among the lead of projects of AK-47 type. Perhaps such a statement seems to be a strange term, but currently we already have hundreds of tuning companies competing in super impressive-looking solutions, and almost no one came up with the idea to connect supporters of AK-47 in a certain way with modern solution of AR-15 type. PWS Company dealt with this scope, and the final effect should satisfy each of AK-47 owners and majority of AR-15 owners.
