Sig Sauer MK25 is a special version of P226 model, designed and dedicated to special outstanding units of US Navy Seals
Sig Sauer P226 is the most popular handgun amongst military services, police and to civil self-defense but MK25 is even more refined. Thus we are dealing with a student, who at the start outgrows the champion. MK25 is a one-piece aluminum frame, stainless steel lock and carbon steel barrel. Everything is covered with double layer Nitron-finish for accurate security against corrosion. Rail for mounting e.g. flashlight is in MIL-STD-1913 version, i.e. combat version that differs from the civil with simple, not-rounded shape.
Naval Special Warfare Group prefers DA/SA (double action/single action) of trigger solution to be able to carry the weapon loaded and ready for immediate reaction, and therefore such a solution was only taken into consideration while collecting offers. MK25 has a mechanism of short reset of the trigger in order to enable faster and more accurate shots, improving and at the same time using the shorter movement of finger on the trigger. Handgun has mounted manual devices for right-handed shooters, but redesigned to facilitate support for left-handed users.
This model has a few things, which standard P226 doesn't have:
- Chromed barrel what this give us: very strong rustproofing, extended vitality, easiness of cleaning
- Phosphate cover of barrel, magazines and all steel inner parts - what this give us: effective rustproofing, resistant to high temperatures, reduced friction coefficient
- SigLite Night sights - night sights and very important part of the rear (rear sight), shaped for easy one hand reload using belt or holster
- Steel recoil-spring-guide-rod compared to plastic in standard version
- Three steel magazines, 15 cartridges in the set
- Laser-engraved anchor indicating its membership in the Navy Seals
Generally speaking, it is the most practical and durable handgun in comparison to all combat available models both on military and civil market. At the moment, there is no company that can compete with it in any aspect, except one that is the price. However, as previously mentioned, whether it makes sense to compare Maybach to something cheaper?
Sig Sauer MK25 is exactly Maybach amongst combat handguns, ready for every Warrior challenge from crawling in mud, by filling with hot desert sands and parachuting directly into the most salty Dead Sea. Anybody and anything is able to stop MK25 combat efficiency, and therefore in this respect this handgun is fitting into the place first, for a lot of years held by its standard predecessor. Summing up, nothing changes, the best one with no competition leads far away from the competition.
