Desert Eagle is suitable for use by the police, army or commandos, but only a few military formations have ventured to this type of weapons due to the fact that this weapon requires a large amount of shooting and physical training, and because of:
- Large recoil
- Huge thud by the shot (heard from a distance of about 2.5 times and bigger than handguns of standard caliber)
- Particularly bright outlet flame (at night effectively blinds the shooter and makes easier to detect)
- Large size (26 cm of length) and weight (1.7 kg unloaded)
- High price of ammunition
